Dogs can be man's best friend but anybody who has lived with cats can attest that they are simply too good to become friends with. For those people who suggest that animals should look after their young ones, obviously, haven't spent time with cats.

Communication

Interaction with a cat has got many varieties like purring and mewing just to spell a few. Cats have numerous body languages also.

Adaptability

Cats have strong, quick reflexes, sharp claws, and sharp teeth which help them kill small prey like rats and mice.

Senses

Hearing: Cats have an amazing hearing sense. The outer flap, can hear sound from about different directions which travel to their ear canal then to the eardrum. After the vibration of sound in the eardrum, the sound waves channel it to the cochlea and then to the brain. The ears also help cats in balancing.  Cats can hear from a distance which makes them to respond to high pitch more than low pitch. This explains why they stay with women who have high-pitched voices.

Seeing: The eye is made up of the cornea, lens, retina, iris and tapetum lucidum. Tapetum lucidum are mirror-like cells that reflect small lights and they help cats to see. To protect their eyes, they have a third eyelid called the haw. To help the light that enters, cats have got elliptical pupil. The cats' pupil can expand three times than the human eye. Smelling: To mark its territory, cats depend more on their sense of smell. The cat's sense of smelling is fourteen times that of a human being. This is because its nose has over 200million cells. Amazingly, a cat can recall a specific smell for as long it lives.

Tasting: Humans taste buds are 9000 in number while cats have only 475. However, cats do have unique papillae which make up for the small number of taste buds. Papilla helps the cat to scrape the meat out of bones and also hold their prey. The cats' taste receptors favor tasting foods high on proteins and fats.

Feeling: Cats usually have twenty-four whiskers. These hairs are thick and three times deeply rooted. These whiskers help to detect changes in the surroundings. They help to tell if it can fit in a particular gap. Cat's fur is unique and can detect slight touches. Know the top best toys for cats here!
